The Public Information Officer serves as a liaison and spokesperson between the communities it serves and members of the news media. A direct line of communication exists through press releases, press conferences and various media interviews.
It is the responsibility of the Public Information Officer to maintain open communication with the public and news media, limited only by mandates of law and the requirement of current criminal inquiries, statutory, policy, and legal restrictions.
