Application

• The hiring process starts when you select the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) career path and fill out an online application. Be sure to, fill out your application completely, following all written instructions and providing all requested information. We’re looking for individuals who can follow directions and pay close attention to detail.
• The timeline from when you apply to receive a conditional job offer takes 2-3 weeks. Applications are submitted electronically through our website (NEOGOV).

Application and Documentation Review

Supporting documentation can be submitted through (NEOGOV) or, by walking into the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, located at 131 Dick St, Fayetteville NC 28301.

A phone call appointment will be scheduled to complete an application review.  Your application must be filled out completely and correctly to move to the background step. Our helpful human resources staff will assist you with getting your application just right. 

Oral Interview Board

In-person interviews will be held with the hiring decision-makers.  You will be contacted by Human Resources with a date, time, and location for your interview if you are selected.

Background Investigation

If you are selected to continue the process you will have to have both background and reference checks. You will be required to submit your fingerprints and be sent for a drug test.

Human Resources

After successfully completing the above steps, you are hired and brought on board.
