The Child Support Enforcement Unit is a specialized unit of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Division. The Child Support Enforcement Unit was created by a contractual agreement between the Department of Health and Human Services Division of the North Carolina Department of Social Services, the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, and the Sheriff of Cumberland County. This contract is renewed on an annual basis.
The Child Support Enforcement Unit is comprised of a Sergeant, Corporal and four Deputies who serve all legal papers initiated by the Child Support Enforcement Agency; including contempt orders and arrest papers which the Judicial Authorities and the Child Support Enforcement Agency issue when deemed necessary.
