Reserve Deputies

Reserve Platoon consists of a group of volunteer deputies who have attended and successfully completed the North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training on their own time.  The classes consist of both night and weekend training and take about nine months to fully complete.  These deputies have taken and passed all required state exams. Reserve Platoon deputies receive the same in-service training and equipment issue, that all Sheriff’s Office deputies receive.  The Reserve Platoon is divided into four squads and rotate working a minimum of one weekend per month. Their primary responsibility is to provide funeral escorts on weekends and holidays and to assist the Patrol Division in answering calls as needed.
